This is it - the final of my 8Q7AO expedition. At the moment, when I write this lines, I seaw how is snowing outside. There are 5cm of snow outside... Good to have good fresh memories about the warm weather on Vilamendhoo Island. 592 QSO's are in the log. For the low activite on my site it's a good count. There are around 500 unique stations from 38 countries in my log. All qso's are uploaded to LoTW. Clublog and eQSL will folow. At the upcomming weekend, I will choose a picture for the paper...
The big pile-ups are gone. For the last few days, I d'ont expect any big ineterresting in AQ7AO. 500+ QSO's are now in the log. Unfortunatley, my plan to be active in FT-4/FT-8, SSTV and other Digi-Modes are no option an more. My notebook has a problem in Audio-TX over the virtual Audio Cable. Maybe I will find a solution fot the last days, but I think my solution will not working. Yesterday, after I called CQ for 10 minutes with no takers, I looked around on the passband, who is also qrv on...
First of all: Thank you for the huge interest in AQ7AO. I never had such experience on a DX-pedition. The immigration in Male was no problem. TThey scanned all of my things and had no reason to do a deeper check. In Vilamendhoo, I was surprised about the location. Our Water Bungalow has the right angle in to the west for QO-100. And I have plenty of space, to put all my equipment in the right place. After check-in in the dive center, I activated the first time my portable equipment. For his...
The hardest thing was to get the negative PCR test. Now we know that we're both negative. We're very excited to flight today in the late evening to the Maldives. I can't wait to say hello to my underwater friends. But I'm also curiouse about the pile up on QO-100. I know, it will be a challenge for me. I will do my best... Expedition Website
The points on my checklist change more and more from red to green. The most importend point is now in progress: The Covid-19 PCR test. We did it this morning. Now we have to wait in minimum for 24 hours. There is a little risk, that I can be positiv. For my qrl, I can't stay at home. I have each day contact with many peoples. Sure, we're on distance, washing hands, clean up the working space and doing all, that we're safe so much as possible. But yes, there is allways a rest risk. But we're...
There are some strange thing going on, since my planned expedition is public. The're qsl managers, who offer for service, and also qsl print services. I did several minor expeditons in the past. But tat ist new for me. Ok how ever Now, I have not only a virtual copy of the license: Last week, I found a huge letter in my postbox. And I must say: The stamps are amazing - so colourful. But the postman had to fight with a heavy snow storm and the paper got wet - No wory: I got the orignial License...
We got a lot of snow in the past 24 hours. Oh yes, in this way, I love the winter time in Switzerland. But in the last years, the winter weather was misty and - you know - just bääääh. Before I went to the qrl today, I did a second test of the portable Equipment. A complete uninstall/install and functional check. Testing is a good thing, before your go on a DX Pedition. Above all, if it a holiday style activitie. The idea is, that I can install and uninstall the equipment very quick during...
What for an adventure: The money for the license is still underway to the Communication Authorities of the Maldives. I had send the letter with "urgent snail post". But since January first, my documents rest at the Dubai Airport, because there is an national Holiday... Since a week now! First of all: A big thank you to Mrs Muasooma Hamid from the Communication Authorities of the Maldives for trust in me and get me the license. And also Big thank you to Mohamed 8Q7RS from the Maldives Amateur...
